  1. Tested Video and Audio Cards for Director 5 for Windows  March 1996

  3. This CD-ROM title uses Macromedia Director for playback. The following is a list of Windows video and sound cards which are compatibile with Director playback.

  5. Director requires video software drivers and hardware that fully support Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or Windows NT standards. The following video systems have been tested and found to be compatible with Director.

  7. We recommend installing the latest available video hardware and software. Contact the video card manufacturer for information and to obtain the latest drivers.

  9. Authoring and playback are not limited to these systems. If you experience difficulties with a card that is not on this list, first test it at 640 x 480 resolution with the monitor's color depth set to 8 bit (256 colors). Next, contact the hardware manufacturer to find out if the problem has been addressed with an updated driver.

  122. 1. Palette transitions are very slow.
  123.  
  124. 2. Passed video tests in 8-bit resolution only. In 16-bit and 24-bit mode, black garbage is drawn in the Paint window and on the Stage during Projector playback.

  126. 3. In high resolution, QuickTime movies play ~25 pixels to the left of the intended location.

  128. 4. QuickTime movies display white.

  130. 5. The True Color setting is not currently Director-compatible. If high color depth is needed, use the 24-bit setting.

  132. 6. In 24-bit mode, moving images in 16-bit AVI videos leave trails.

  134. 7. In 640x480, 8-bit resolution, some QuickTime movies play in multiple locations on screen.

  136. 8. Palette transitions that occur in adjacent frames cause video interference. To work around this, space them at least one frame apart.
